GOVERNOR OF OGUN STATE DAPO ABIODUN SPEAKS ON THE KILLING OF TIAMIYU IN SAGAMU
SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE GOVERNOR OF OGUN STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY, PRINCE DAPO ABIODUN, MFR, ON THE UNFORTUNATE KILLING OF TIAMIYU KAZEEM IN SAGAMU AND ENSUING PROTESTS ON MONDAY,
24TH FEBRUARY, 2020.
Fellow Citizens of Ogun State, particularly the good people of Sagamu
I address you today on the unfortunate death of Mr. Tiamiyu Kazeem, a rising star of Remo Stars FC, on Saturday, 22 February, 2020. This is a painful loss and an avoidable death in a circumstance that made it even more painful. And I commiserate with the family, friends and associates.
Whilst investigation is still on-going, I have since engaged the top hierarchy of the Police. The IGP has since deployed DIG (South West) to visit Sagamu and DIG (Force CIID) to take over the investigation. I have expressed the strong commitment of Ogun State government to ensuring that justice is done. IGP has promised that the police officers allegedly implicated in the unfortunate death will be thoroughly and dispassionately investigated and brought to book.Indeed, the two officers – the leader of the team (an Assistant Superintendent of Police )and the other officer (an Inspector of Police) – have since been arrested and detained.
We have been monitoring the events since weekend and more particularly since morning. Indeed, I have just received the most recent briefings from the security chiefs and thought I should share some parts of the update with the general public.
In the meantime, I had issued a public statement condemning the incident and calling on the youth to be calm and not take laws in to their own hands.
Early this morning, the SSG led the delegation of the State to address the youth alongside Kabiyesi, Akarigbo, in the palace and further sued for peace. The youth agreed to embrace the entreaties of the government and those of Kabiyesi.
However, contrary to the promise of restraint given by the youth, a while after the peace meeting, some youth defied the calls for restraint and decided to take the advantage of the situation by embarking on activities that further aggravated the already tense situation.
They attempted to attack the Divisional Police Station, burn the Police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), and even loot the banks and local government headquarters. Regrettably, we understand that some fatalities were recorded thereby, which is also being investigated.
Indeed, I have also briefed the Presidency on this incident and received assurances that the security agencies have been directed to do all that is required to fully restore normalcy, within the ambit of law.
Let me assure all the good citizens of Ogun State and residents of Sagamu that they should go about their lawful business without any fear of molestation whatsoever.I wish to sound a note of warning that anyone that attempts to capitalise on the unfortunate incident to foment any trouble or engage in activity that is in breach of public peace and order will be subjected to full force of law.
Parents and guardians should caution their children and wards to refrain from confrontation with law enforcement agents whilst carrying out their responsibilities of maintain law and order.

Park Managers appointed by Oyo State Government.
Oyo State Government on Monday said the newly introduced Park Management System was to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
It denied the new structure was not in any way a lift on the existing proscription on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The government said the new effort will bring a fresh face to parks and garages management and administration in the state.
The government made the clarification while inaugurating the park managers across the 33 local government areas of the state and two Disciplinary Committees for motorists and tipper operators.
The event at the Conference Room, Ministry of Public Works and Transport was attended by Commissioners Bayo Lawal (Special Duties), Prof Rapheal Afonja (Public Works and Transport) and Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun (Information, Culture and Tourism) among others.
While a former factional leader of the NURTW, Mr Mukaila Lamidi (fondly referred to as Auxiliary) was inaugurated as the Chairman of the State Motor Parks Disciplinary Committee, Mr Adewale Yekeen was inaugurated as the Chairman of the Tipper/Lorry Drivers Disciplinary committee.
Afonja charged the new managers to be disciplined and ensure peace at the various motor parks and garages while also ensuring free flow of traffic.
He said:
“This instruction was given by the Governor.
It is a new park management system that we are implementing."
“We are trying this to make sure we bring in a better structure into our motor parks and garages."
“Soon, other things like infrastructure will fall in place. So, for the main time, these people have been assigned to take charge of the parks on behalf of the state."
“This is not a union system as they are basically employed by the state government. One of the things the Governor is doing is to ensure that leakages are blocked and there is an increase in the revenue of the state.
‘’We cannot continue to mortgage our future by borrowing every day to construct or develop our infrastructure.
‘’So, that is why we have this management system in place; to coordinate on behalf of the government.’’
“Another reason why the Governor is doing this is to avoid violence among the union people because people feel insecure in the state.
“If there is anyone who, in some way, wants to threaten the peace of the state, such person will face the wrath of the law.
“We are asking the park managers and the committees to make sure that there is no traffic congestion in our state.
“They should coordinate people and make sure that the revenue, which the state is entitled to, get into the state coffers.
“These are the things this government is saddled with the park managers and disciplinary committee for the state.”
EFCC Secretary Mr Olukayode Stood up for Nigeria against being a Corrupt Country
“Two weeks ago, I was privileged to be on the team that went to recover $308million for Nigeria. They are from Washington. “You know what the Oyinbos told us when we wanted to sign the treaty? They had the audacity to look into our eyes and said: "If you people steal this money again, we will collect it back from you.
" “I stood up against them, I said: "We are not a corrupt nation. A few people might have stolen money, but Nigeria is not a corrupt nation. “ “And you know it is not their fault, (they said that) because they have seen recovered loot being looted again.”

Supreme Court to hear Ihedioha’s fresh application on Feb 18 on Imo governorship
Supreme Court to hear Ihedioha’s fresh application on Feb 18 Ihedioha:24hours To Our Victory Parade!
It is no longer news that come 18th of February, the supreme court would be reviewing the judgement pronounced on Emeka Ihedioha. This time around the supreme court does not engage in this process alone, but now in the presence of other international bodies. Imolites have no trust in the judiciary because of their failed attempt to mete out democracy initially.
Now Imolites strictly depend on God and the international bodies to act as watchdogs during the process and to ensure that justice is served. Therefore, in the spirit of triumph we fasten our shoes, call out our folks and embark on our victory parade, because of a truth victory is ours! it is just yet to be announced so we rejoice all the same. Our trust is not in man and a failed judiciary, for in God we trust. —Emeka Ihedioha

Army Chief says Boko Haram Now Everywhere In Nigeria, Terrorism Will Remain In Nigeria For Years
Army Chief Buratai The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, has revealed that Boko Haram terrorists can be found everywhere in Nigeria including Lagos State.
Buratai disclosed that the terrorist group is not restricted to the North-east alone but are currently scattered all over Nigeria. Featuring on Arise Television, the Army Chief said since members of Boko Haram have been subdued in the North-east, they have moved to other parts of the country. He stated that though the military has defeated Boko Haram, its currently facing the challenge of terrorism.
According to Buratai, terrorism would remain in Nigeria for years. He said: “We have defeated insurgency, but facing the challenge of terrorism. “There is no where you will not find Boko Haram – even in Lagos here, there are Boko Haram. In Kaduna, there are Boko Haram. There are more across the North-east. Many have been arrested here in Lagos. We have been tracking them. We arrest them and take them into custody. “We must differentiate between insurgency and terrorism.
I have tried to tell them at the National Assembly. Someone said three local governments are under Boko Haram. How? “These guys are not controlling any territory. They attempted to establish their territory, caliphate in Gwoza but they have not been able to because they were flushed out. That is insurgency. They are not holding any territory. “Typically, that is the end if insurgency. But what of terrorism? Terrorism will outlive you and me and probably everybody in this house because terrorism, since it started, just like armed robbery, like kidnapping, burglary, cultism, it would continue. “These are all smaller parts of terrorism. It is when it goes higher that you have arsons, like it happened in Borno yesterday, murder and so on deliberately, no cause.”
