32-year-old man arrested for allegedly raping a 75-year-old woman to death

 

A 32-year-old man, Iliya Musa, has allegedly raped a 75-year-old grandmother to death in Adamawa State.

It was gathered that the incident happened on Saturday, March 26 in Maduguva community. Samuel Adamu, who is the son of the rape victim, said, "The rapist came to my mother's house around 8pm last Saturday and raped her to death.

Our neighbour, Esther Thomas heard when my mother was shouting, so she rushed and called my elder brother, Yohanna Adamu, who caught him in the act.”

Iliya Musa, who has confessed to the crime, told SaharaReporters that he was under the influence of alcohol. “I was returning from a wedding ceremony in the night when I heard the grandmother sobbing in her room. I went in and in the twinkling of an eye, I found myself on top of her," he said.

The image maker for the state police command, DSP Sulaiman Ngoruje, confirmed the incident, saying that the suspect has been arrested and will be charged to court.

Benjamin on the run after allegedly incinerating his UK-based wife and her brother in Lagos

 

Family and friends of a Scotland-based woman, Chinyere Ogudoro, have been thrown into mourning after her husband incinerated her and his brother-in-law hours after her return to Nigeria.

According to a post sent in by an anon and posted by Chinenye Azubuike on Facebook, said the incident happened on Thursday, March 31st at their residence in Lagos. The source said, “This is my  sister-in-law who relocated to Scotland less than 4years ago. She returned to Lagos yesterday by 8am. Her younger brother picked her up from the airport and drove her to the house.

Her husband, Benjamin, from Ngor Okpalla LGA in Imo State, returned and incinerated the mother-of-four and the brother around 3am. The suspect told his sister to inform the family that the house caught fire and he escaped. Before Chinyere’s brother passed on, he explained all that transpired. 

Chinyere and her brother have been taken to the morgue while the suspect has gone into hiding. Prior to this incident, he had a quarrel with the deceased over a property she bought. He had wanted to sell the house but to his surprise, his name wasn’t on the documents. This angered him and he sent her death threats. 

He once fought with Chinyere with a machete which led them to separate for some years before they reconciled only for him to carry out his death threats. Adeyinka Grandson, a UK based Nigerian who was on trial for hate speech, has been jailed for 4.5 years by a London crown court over his attacks and call for violence on the Igbo and other Nigerians.

Adeyinka Shoyemi, aka Grandson will serve a minimum of two years and will face a possible deportation back to Nigeria.

Blessing Douglas, the daughter-in-law of veteran actors, Joke Silva and Olu Jacobs, has refuted claims that she’s no longer married to their son, Olusoji.

Blessing, while answering questions on Instagram on Thursday had said that she is no longer married to her husband, Soji.

However, in a post on her Instagram Stories on Friday, she made a U-turn and said she was just responding sarcastically to people who were making insensitive inquiries about her marriage.

Blessing wrote, "After a series of incessant, and borderline insensitive inquiries about my marriage, I responded in the best way I knew I could - through humour and retorted with sarcasm."

She further revealed, "Soji and I are still happily married and I will not be discussing this issue any further."

Nobody Should Question My Character, Singer Timaya Warns Fans

 

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Inetimi Timaya Odon, better known as Timaya, has warned his fans to desist from questioning his character.

This is coming days after the singer got into a social media brawl with music executive, Ubi Franklin, who had earlier criticised him over his handling of an accident in the Lekki area of Lagos.

He also threatened to assault Franklin and reminded him of a similar incident in January 2021 when they got into a physical fight.

Shehu Sani has asked what the point is in asking citizens to link their SIM to their National Identification Number (NIN) since it hasn't reduced criminal activities in any way.

 

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, said last year that linking SIM cards to NIN will enhance security as it would help security operatives to go after kidnappers and other criminals.

 

He said, "Some of the security institutions, based on the cybercrime law, are allowed to gain access to the database without coming to us because the database allows for lawful intercept. That lawful intercept was allowed in order to support our security agencies."

 

President Muhammadu Buhari also called on Nigerians to participate in the synchronization of National Identification Number (NIN) with SIM cards across the country, as it will provide a digital framework for improving security and strengthening the economy.

 

However, after bandits attacked a train along the Abuja-Kaduna track and kidnapped some passengers, Senator Shehu Sani is now asking why Nigerians were asked to link their SIM to their NIN in the first place since the bandits have been making calls to the families of their victims and no one has been arrested.

 

He tweeted: "The Train Kidnappers are freely making calls to the families of their hostages;What happened to the SIM card registration and the NIN hoopla?"

The news was broken by several colleagues of the late actor as they mourn him on their Instagram pages.

The late Yoruba actor recently reportedly suffered unexpected bleeding on the set of his new movie.

However, the cause of death of Kunle Mac-Tokunbo popularly known as Dejo Tunfulu cannot be ascertained at press time.

Military refuses to bomb Bandits’ hideout – El-rufai

 

The Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-rufai has expressed sadness and frustration over the recent train attack by Bandits.

El-rufai, according to Punch, disclosed that the Nigerian Military knows the location of the Bandits but has refused to bomb their hideout.

 

Speaking on the incident, the fiery politician said; “We have enough intelligence for us to take action. The Air Force undertakes enough ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance); and the DSS has informants all over the place.”

“We know what they (terrorists) are planning. We get the reports. The problem is for the agencies to take action. Don’t wait until they attack before you respond. The Army should go after their enclaves to wipe them out. Let the Air Force bomb them.”

“Before, they were categorised as bandits and if you bombed them, you would have issues with human rights organisations and international criminal courts and so on. But, now that they have been declared terrorists by the court, they can be legally killed without any consequences from international human rights organisations.”

He disclosed that Kaduna is currently in a ‘State of War’.

“We know where their camps are, we know where they are; the SSS have their phone numbers, they listen to them, and they give me the report. We know what they are planning. We shouldn’t be waiting for them to attack; why can’t we go after them?”.

The deadly train attack occurred on Monday leading to several deaths and abductions. The development has been condemned widely with many Nigerians calling for an improved security response.
