Lagos Police begins investigation On the Alleged r@pe scandal of the Chrisland Student

 

The Lagos State Police Command has invited all parties involved in the alleged sexual abuse of a 10-year-old primary six pupil of Chrisland Schools located in the Victoria Garden City area of the state.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said  that all parties involved in the matter had been directed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, on Tuesday.

Giving an update on the matter, Hundeyin said, “All the parties involved have been invited to the State Criminal Investigation Department Panti today to give a written statement and further questioning will be done.”

The parties involved include the school’s head teacher, G.I. Azike; and the parents of the female pupil who alleged that their daughter was sexually abused during the school’s participation in the World School Games at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Though the school management said the female pupil was among 76 pupils that represented the school at the Dubai event, which was held between March 8 and 14, 2022, it said the allegation of rape was false.

Rather, the school said two pupils of the school engaged in what the school described as “sexual misconduct” in a game called ‘Truth or Dare,’ when the act occurred after lights out.

The school authorities subsequently suspended the female student (name withheld) indefinitely, stating that she was “a major actor” in the “immoral act”.

However, the mother of the pupil, in a viral video, claimed that her daughter was drugged and raped by some male students of the school.

Nigerian Police ACP Emmanuel Idowu Asufi Slumps, In Office

 

An Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration in the Bayelsa State Police Command, ACP Emmanuel Idowu Asufi, slumped and died while performing official duty on Tuesday.

ACP Asufi was said to have collapsed and died at the Police headquarters in Ovom community, Yenagoa, on Tuesday afternoon.

The sudden death of the police chief threw the fold of the Bayelsa Police Command into shock.

The deceased was an indigene of Ekwani community in Delta State. He was the ACP in charge of Administration at the State Police Command.

When journalists visited the police state command on Wednesday, the mood was solemn.

Many police personnel, who worked with the deceased, expressed shock over his sudden demise.

An officer attached to Operation Puff Adder in Bayelsa told journalists, “it was shocking. Many of us saw him come into the headquarters smiling and exchanging pleasantries with everyone including the rank and file. But we were shocked when an alarm was raised that he collapsed. They had to rush him to the Federal Medical Centre, where he was confirmed dead.”

IGP RECEIVES WOMEN AFFAIRS MINISTER, REVEALS PROGRESS ON OSINACHI’S CASE

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, on Wednesday 20th April, 2022, received the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Kedem Tallen, OFR, who paid a courtesy visit on the IGP in his office at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The Minister discussed amongst other things, the plight of women in Nigeria, particularly in relation to gender and domestic-based violence. She pointed out the recent case of the famous gospel musician, Osinachi Nwachukwu, whose untimely death at the hands of her husband on 8th April, 2022 has caused public outcry. The Minister who was accompanied by some members of the late singer’s family, was equally interested to know what efforts the police have put in place to ensure swift justice is dispensed.

The Inspector-General of Police, while reacting, noted that the untimely death is heart-breaking particularly as information from sources close to the family and independent witnesses fingered her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, as being responsible for her death. He stated that the FCT Command of the Nigeria Police Force, in whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, arrested the deceased’s husband at about 5pm on Sunday 10th April, 2022 at their residence in Lugbe, Abuja. The suspect is currently in detention at the FCT Police Command even as investigations are still ongoing.

The IGP further emphasized that considering the sensitive nature of the case, and the need to get justice, and swiftly, the command has approached the National Hospital, Abuja, for post-mortem examinations on the deceased to ascertain the cause of death and her husband will be charged to court as soon as it is established that he was responsible for her death.

The Inspector-General of Police stressed that the alleged act is condemnable in all ramifications as it is both illegal and immoral for one human to take the life of another in any manner contrary to the provisions of the law. He reiterated the commitment of the Force under his leadership to ensuring that cases of this nature including domestic violence, sexual and gender-based violence, rape, and other social vices are accorded utmost attention with a view to bringing their perpetrators to justice according to the provisions of extant laws.

Poland releases 13 out of 19 detained Nigerians

The Polish government has released 13 out of 19 Nigerians detained in various camps in the country.

Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) in a statement on Wednesday, April 20, said their release followed the intervention of the Nigeria Ambassador to Poland, Major General Christian Ugwu (rtd).

According to the statement, signed by NiDCOM spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, among the remaining six persons in detention camps, one claimed to be a Cameroonian. 

“Unfortunately, the remaining five, all applied for international protection (asylum) in Poland including Igwe Ikechukwu Christian, who had been interviewed by some foreign media.

The five cannot be released until the Government of Poland takes a decision on their application or they decide to withdraw the application,” the envoy added.

 

Recall that earlier in the month, NiDCOM boss, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed that the 19 Nigerian refugees were detained in Poland after they refused to leave the country during the Federal Government’s evacuation exercise.

The “10-year-old” and her equally minor male friends were seen in a footage which has gone viral engaged in sexual activities.

Her mother had alleged that she was ga*g-rap*d, while the school authorities tried to coverup the scandal after the students returned from a sporting event in Dubai, UAE.

According to Politicos, the child posts her self-recorded videos on an app called Lik*e.

Her handle called “bhadg**** bad girl f*ck) already has over 24,000 likes.

She has posted over 526 videos with 4,134 followers as at Easter Monday.

Curiously, checks have revealed that the videos were recorded in her home.

In-laws of late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu has commented about the death of their sister-in-law.

Richard Okekenwa, older brother to Osinachi husband, Peter Nwachukwu, says he hasn’t seen or spoken to the gentleman in the last 20 years.

"He doesn’t call me. I do not have anything to do with him"

Okekenwa says that Peter Nwachukwu’s real name is Peter Echijekwu Okekenwa.

He said that when Peter‘s father died, that Peter 

didn’t come home for the burial. That even when the father of his wife died, he didn’t go for the burial as well.

Okekenwa said the day he heard of Osinachi’s death was in the middle of the night when his own children called him to inform him.

He said he cried because of Osinachi’s death but not because of his brother Peter.

He also said that until now that Peter hasn’t called him to inform him of his wife‘s death.
