UK Congratulates Buhari, Says Nigerians ‘Can Have Confidence In The Result’

The United Kingdom has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the presidential election. This is coming from the UK Minister of State for Africa, Harriett Baldwin, hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the President the winner of the keenly contested poll on Wednesday. She said,

“I offer my congratulations to President Buhari on securing a second term as the Nigerian President. “The UK is a long-standing friend and partner of Nigeria and the Nigerian people, and a stable and prosperous Nigeria benefits Africa and the world.” The minister also commended the outcome of the election which she said tallied with the civil society Parallel Vote Tabulation process. She advised Nigerians to trust the election and urged those who feel aggrieved to seek redress through the legal process. “The Nigerian people have demonstrated resilience and a commitment to democracy,” Baldwin state, adding, “The result declared by the Nigerian election commission is consistent with the result obtained through the civil society Parallel Vote Tabulation process. Along with our international partners, the UK believes the Nigerian people can have confidence in the result.” She added,

THE BATTLE FOR SENATE PRESIDENT SEAT BEGINS.

Now that Sen Bukola Saraki will not be returning to the 9th Senate, feelers from Abuja indicates that Senators elected on the platform of APC are already gearing up for the exalted seat to provide adequate leadership to complement the policies and programs expected to be mapped out by the executive arm of government in order to reach the NEXT LEVEL.

Political actors, pundits and commentators are of the opinion that the SP should remain in the North Central. Others are of the opinion that the seat should be zoned to either the South South or South East. In the other way round, it's been argued that the North East should produce the next Senate President.

SOUTH SOUTH As it stands, if the position is zoned to the South South, then Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege from Delta State seems to be the MOST FAVOURED Senator of APC extraction from the Zone. Moreover, he's a ranking Senator.

NORTH EAST If it's zoned to the North East, it's going to be a battle between two(2) Senior Ranking Senators, i.e, Sen Ahmad Lawan, the Senate Leader from Yobe State and Sen Ali Ndume, Former Senate Leader from Borno State.

NORTH CENTRAL Coming back to the North Central, the MOST RANKING Senator on the good books of the Presidency is Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the Former Governor of Nasarawa State who just won his 3rd Term re-election bid. In Kwara State, all the 3 Newly Elected Senators are new comers. Same thing is applicable to Plateau, Benue and Kogi States. As for Niger State, we have Sen Abdullahi Sahabi returning for the 2nd time.

SOUTH EAST Permutation would have favoured the South East but if care is not taken, they may loose out just like what happened in 2015.

South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned church leaders against using religion to profit from vulnerable people

The president of South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned church leaders against using religion to profit from vulnerable, unsuspecting people after a Johannesburg-based pastor made headlines claiming to have raised a man from the dead on Sunday.

A video clip of prominent Pastor Alph Lukau of Alleluia Ministries praying over a man dressed in a white suit in a coffin, has been making the rounds on social media.   Following the incident, President Ramaphosa believes the government needs to talk to churches and religious leaders to stop them from taking advantage of South Africans.

“We are now given an opportunity to engage faith-based organisations on how can we work together to ensure we rid our country of bogus religious leaders who are taking our people for a ride, who are doing things that are so shocking and hoodwink people into believing they raised someone from the dead,” President Ramaphosa said.   He said the controversial behaviour of some pastors was bringing the name of the God and of churches into disrepute.   Last year, a controversial Johannesburg 'prophet' claimed on Facebook that he had visited heaven and took pictures on his Samsung Galaxy smartphone. The pastor then tried to sell the heavenly pictures for $360 (R5,000) each.

A grand theft of the people’s will.- Atiku Abubakar.

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, briefs the press on Wednesday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja where he labelled last weekend’s presidential election “a grand theft of the people’s will.” The former Nigerian vice president said: “On election day, we saw the implementation of grand theft of the people’s will.

“In Akwa Ibom, for instance, the results showed a statistical impossibility of a 62 per cent drop in voter numbers from the 2015 elections, even where voter registration and PVC collection rates were much higher than in 2015. This is where voter suppression took place. “Our party made these observations and complaints before the elections that there were plans to implement voter suppression on PDP or opposition strongholds and voter increase in APC strongholds.”

AAC Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the 2019 presidential election was not free and fair.

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the 2019 presidential election was not free and fair.

The activist was one of the 73 presidential candidates who were on the ballot for the February 23 election, but he believes the process was rigged.

The candidate took to his Twitter account early on Tuesday, February 26, to lament about the conduct of the election.

"Good morning Nigeria! Elections are over, but it is de javu! This election wasn't free and fair. As you can see, even the "winners" can't celebrate! #TakeItBack," he posted.

A day after the election, Sowore had described the election as "an act of aggression against Nigerian voters".

Sowore has only scored a total of 8,083 votes in all 12 states even though he had previously said it was a three-horse race between him and the top two candidates.

"If there's a free and fair election, there's no way we'll lose. It has turned to a three-horse race in which the AAC, the PDP, and the APC are the main competitors," he said last week.

SIDE EFFECTS OF ZOBO DRINK.

1. It reduces the number of oestrogen in your body This is only the issue for women who have the issue with the menstrual cycle. When you drink hibiscus on a regular basis, it can slow down the process of oestrogen production. So, if you already have problems with this in your life, then consider staying away from karkade for a while. Besides, you should also remember that women taking birth control pills should stay away from the tea too, because of its specific properties. Thus, if you have such problem, then opt for some other tea instead of this one and eliminate it from your daily diet at all.

 2. It affects the blood pressure People suffering from low blood pressure should also stay away from drinking this tea. It is very helpful in case you have hypertension syndrome, as it can easily bring the blood pressure on significant levels. But in case you have low blood pressure, then karkade is not an option for you. It will make it even lower, and as a result of working together with pills you are taking to prevent this health issues, you can feel even worse. Therefore, watch out and make sure you know this before you consider having sour tea on a daily basis.

3. It might cause hallucinogenic signs You might feel light-headed after drinking the zobo drink. The thing is that all the properties combined in it can lead to intoxication. So, if you work as a driver or drive a lot, then having hibiscus tea is not the best idea. Some people even reported getting hallucinogenic signs after drinking it on a regular basis. So, be careful as it can cause serious troubles.

 4. It prevents pregnancy Some women reported that this kind of drink hadn't let them get pregnant. It is scientifically proven, but since we know that it can be harmful to your oestrogen levels, it can apparently prevent women getting pregnant. So, if you are willing to conceive a child, then eliminate karkade from your daily ration. It can not only prevent the pregnancy but (who knows?) might even affect the fetus if you do get pregnant.

SUDDEN UNEXPECTED DEATH AT NIGHT - HOW TO AVOID IT

Warning to those who usually get up at midnight or early morning to urinate: You must take note of the "3 Half Minute Pauses". Why is it important? It will greatly reduce the risk of sudden unexpected death.

We often hear stories that a person who looks very healthy, suddenly died at night. The reason is that when a person wakes up at night to go to the bathroom, it's often done hurriedly. Standing up too soon from a lying position causes lack of sufficient blood flow to the brain. That is why the "3 Half Minute Pauses" is very important.

ECG pattern can change because of sudden change in body position affecting blood circulation to the brain eventually causing heart failure. You are advised to practice these: 1. When waking from sleep, lie in bed for the 1st half minute;

 2. Sit in bed for the next half minute;

3. Lower your legs while sitting on the edge of the bed for the last half minute. After that series of half minute pauses, you won't likely suffer from insufficient blood circulation to your brain, reducing the possibility of sudden unexpected death.

SOWORE THANKS NIGERIANS FOR THEIR STEADFAST FAITH IN THEIR COUNTRY

Yesterday saw the culmination of a year’s journey and the only emotion I can muster is one of pride and gratitude. Immense, indescribable pride at a people who took a dream and made it their own.

people who defied every stereotypical slur levelled at them and rose above the stench of corruption to dare to dream of a Nigeria that works for us all. Over the last year, you have shown tremendous support; you attended town hall meetings and asked the pertinent questions that helped to shape our policies into a manifesto for the future. You raised funds – a phenomenon previously unseen in Nigerian politics and initially mocked as dead on arrival. Our diaspora supporters donated over $165,000 and went above and beyond monetary donations to call friends and family back home to convince them of the new revolution sweeping the land.

Osaze Odemwingie recounted how he was taken to a native doctor instead of a medical doctor when he sustained an injury on his hand.

According to him, it isn’t a rare thing to patronize such among his colleagues.

He said:
“Just at least 70% of players believe in it. They think that some kind of salve will save them. This is more suggestion. Brainwashing goes. But three years in Nigeria have been helpful to me. They called me to the big league, and there my career developed much faster.”
