Akinwande Oluwole "Wole" Soyinka (Yoruba: Oluwo̩lé S̩óyinká, pronounced " Shoyinka"; born 13 July 1934) is a Nigerian playwright and poet. Professor Wole Soyinka was yesterday celebrated globally ahead of his 80th birthday which would be marked today (Sunday). Prominent among those celebrated Soyinka’s achievement ahead of his birthday was President Goodluck Jonathan who remarked that at 80, Soyinka had made a trmendous mark worth celebrating
