Update on Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late popular gospel singer Osinachi.

 

The Federal Government has filed 23-count charges against Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late popular gospel singer, Osinachi.


Osinachi d!ed on Friday, April 8th after she was allegedly in a c0ma for five days prior to her death. Her family members, children, and friends of the deceased all alleged that her husband subjected her to domestic v!olence.


Nwachukwu was apprehended on Sunday, April 10 by the FCT police command on grounds of suspected culp@ble hom!cide.


Mr. Nwachukwu was charged with culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by d€ath, according to court papers filed on May 20, 2022 by Mrs. Yewande Gbola-Awopetun, Head, S€xual and Gender-Based V!olence, Department of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Ministry of Justice.


“That you Peter Nwachukwu, 56, male, on the 8th of April, 2022 at Aco Estate, opposite police station, Lugbe, Abuja, FCT, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did commit an offence to with: culpable hom!cide punishable with d£ath in that you caused the death of Mrs Osinachi Nwachukwu by your various acts of v!olence and aggr@vated ass@ult with the knowledge that her d€ath would be the probable consequence of your acts.”

“Statement of offence: W!llfully placing a person in fear of physical !njury contrary to section 4(1) of the V!olence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, 2015 and punishable under the same section of the Act.”.
