Missing Adewura, A 26 Year-Old Chartered Accountant Found Dead

Body Of Missing Adewura, A 26 Year-Old Chartered Accountant Found Dead In A Canal It's so sad to announce a devasting and heartbreaking news that the missing Adewura Bello has been found dead.

Reports have it that Adewura and her bike man fell through a void due to an open manhole created by missing concrete slab into a local canal after rainfall where both of them died. The bike man couldn't see it as visibility was poor because of the heavy downpour that day. Their bodies have so far been recovered today.

This is another case of the so so many avoidable deaths that occurs daily all across Nigeria due to the negligence, incompetence, embezzlement, stealing, bribery, corruption etc. of the authorities responsible for this. What a great loss especially to her family. May her soul rest on! in peace

The President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Ibrahim Gusau has been impeached

The President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Ibrahim Gusau was impeached by the board following his alleged role in the ‘missing’ $135, 000 erroneously paid to the country two years ago by world athletics body, IAAF.

Seven out of 12 board members of the AFN impeached Gusau in the office of the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung in Abuja yesterday. One of the board members, Brown Ebewele, said shortly after the meeting that they decided to ‘sweep Gusau aside’ to enable the board carry out proper investigation into the circumstances surrounding the ‘missing’ IAAF money. “Seven of us signed the letter asking Gusau to step aside,”

Ebewele said. “One of the board members, Fidelis Gadzama had been in the United Kingdom since we came on board, meaning only 12 of us have been active. Sunday Adeleye was here, but he refused to sign the letter. We have the consent of other board members, and we are conscious of the rules. We are also conscious that the AFN is under a supervising ministry. We are going into another meeting now to set up a committee that will investigate how Gusau and a few people in the AFN spent the IAAF money,”

Ebewele stated. Asked if Nigeria had refunded the IAAF $135, 000, as the deadline given by the world body expired yesterday, Ebewele said: “Yes, the sports minister has communicated with the President of IAAF on the issue and they reached an agreement. The IAAF is no longer sanctioning Nigeria.”

Olusegun Obasanjo, former Nigerian president and other Nigerians escaped death on Wednesday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other prominent Nigerians in the Ethiopian airline passenger aircraft, Boeing 777-300, included the Director General of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Ambassador Ayoola Olukanni. Also in the plane was Prof Samson Tunde Adebayo, the Director of Ports Inspection, National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) as well as scores of Nigerians and other nationals.

The passenger aircraft, ET-901, had departed the Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, at about 9:10 a.m., Ethiopian time; 7 a.m Nigerian time. A NAN correspondent, who was among the passengers, recalled that the almost 5-hour flight from the Ethiopian capital to Lagos had been smooth until the pilot attempted to land at the Murtala Mohammed International airport. Rather than landing on the first touch line of the runway, the pilot over short it, due to rain and heavy wind, landing on the third touchline. NAN reports that, on realising this, the pilot quickly manouvered the plane back air, flying out of the Lagos airport.

After hovering around between Lagos and areas suspected to be in Ogun, causing panic in passengers and crew members, the plane landed in Lagos airport, some 20 minutes after the initial false landing. The atmosphere in the air bus upon landing was replica of what is obtainable in some Nigerian worship centers, as many passengers broke out into worship songs and clapping, while some fell to their knees in prayer.

Nollywood Actor Kunle Afolayan’s Marriage Reportedly Crashes Over Infidelity

Film producer and director, Kunle Afolayan, the curtain has fallen on his marriage to Tolu Afolayan, mother of his three children, as both have called it quits on their matrimony and gone their separate ways after futile attempts at savaging what was left of the internally troubled union.
According to a source privy to the unfortunate collapse, things between Kunle and Tolu got to a head after the two became hostile companions living under a roof with suspicion and distrust, which culminated in Tolu packing her baggage and living their matrimonial home for good with an intent to never to step a foot into Kunle’s house again.
It is gathered that accusations and counter-accusations had become a recurring pastime between the Afolayans. Kunle had always been incessantly accused of being incurably adulterous. His alleged waywardness was said to be so legendary that he was perennially charged of lying with women of different shapes and shades.
Kunle’s penchant for women was said to have no boundaries. He is reportedly at home with spinsters as much as he is with married women and widows, especially those with financial capacity to line his pockets.
Our source hinted that Tolu made spirited attempts to ensure that Kunle’s lecherous ways were curtailed but to no avail. Her endurance was stretched beyond its limit when she came to full realisation that her husband was neck deep into voodoo.
Kunle Afolayan  is said to have a thing for fetish lifestyle and idolatry, a practice which always put Tolu on the edge. She was very concerned about their kids as Kunle was hell bent in indoctrinating them with his idolatrous beliefs. It is not clear if Tolu left with all the kids.
Not ready to rue her matrimonial loss, Tolu has reportedly moved on as she has found romantic solace in a relationship with a Lagos big boy who has been dotting on her. A couple of weeks after bidding farewell to Kunle, Tolu’s newly found love interest has bought a car for her.

Habiba’s husband, Suleiman Usman, told Daily Trust that she had a miscarriage two years ago and became pregannt last year. Usman said that his wife showed slight signs of labour for about five days so he took her to the hospital where she was attending ante natal clinic.

“When we went to the hospital we were told to go for a scan and after the scan the doctors told us that she had to be operated upon after which they were delivered with the unusual twins. Since their birth, people have been trooping to the hospital to catch a glimpse and the thing is becoming unbearable because we have to call security to control people. We don’t know how we can cope when we are discharged from the hospital” he said Speaking on the birth of the conjoined twins, the doctor who performed the operation to remove the twins, Dr Sama’ila Mato Jahun, said that the decision to perform the ceasarean section to remove the twins followed a scan that revealed they were in an awkward position. “When a scan was conducted, it showed that they were lying in a position that will not allow their passage through the birth canal so we recommended a CS to remove them.

In the course of the operation we discovered that they are conjoined twins. They are healthy but they have only one stomach, four arms, and three legs. So their physiology is very delicate,” he said

Graduates will be paid N100,000 monthly to drive BRT buses Says Lagos State Gov. Elect Sanwo Olu

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said he will reduce reckless driving in BRT by employing graduates as drivers and adding more dignity to the work. Sanwo-Olu spoke Saturday during an interactive session with his classmates at the Executive Master of Business Administration class, University of Lagos, 1998/2000 set.

Sanwo’s classmates asked Sanwo-Olu how he would address the recklessness of some of the BRT bus drivers. He said: “The BRT issue is something that has to do with culture. When we take over, by the Grace of God, we will advertise and see if we can employ some of our graduates as drivers.

“What I realised is that apart from the money we will be paying them, which is more than what they are paying an average graduate, we need to very quickly tell our people and encourage ourselves that there is dignity in work. We are going to be paying (them) between N80,000 and N100,000 to come and drive these buses because we expect a lot more decency. “By the time we get the culture of the drivers’ right, the routes are coming up, by the time we finish the Abule-Egba/Iyana Ipaja/Ikeja route, it will boost the number of BRT (buses).” According to Sanwo-Olu, Lagos could one day adopt technology to upgrade and model the BRT ticketing system after what is obtainable in the United Kingdom. At the dinner, the governor-elect also explained his plans to eradicate gridlock around the city. He said his administration hoped to, by the middle of next year, complete the blue rail starting from Okokomaiko, through to Mile 2, Orile and Marina. “The water will work, BRT buses will work and rail will work,” Sanwo-Olu added.

Oba Awujale of Ijebuland and Oba Alake of Egbaland in supremacy battle.

Awujale, Alake in supremacy battle. It was recently reported that the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, had rated himself higher than the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.

While everyone expected Oba Adetona to respond, he didn’t say a word immediately. However, last week, at the launch of an endowment fund for the Oba Sikiru Adetona Professorial Chair in Governance, Department of Political Science, Olabisi Onabanjo University, held at Oriental Hotel, in Victoria Island Lagos, the Awujale finally spoke.

He said when he learnt that the Alake rated himself higher than him, he reached out to him to find out if those statements were actually made by him. According to Oba Adetona, the Alake denied making the statement. He said, “Regrettably, however, when the said statement was continuously credited to Alake on the pages of newspapers, I expected him to deny it or issue a rebuttal, but he did not do so.

Therefore, I consider it necessary to debunk the aforementioned falsehood and misrepresentation of facts from the Ake Palace, and put the records straight.

“First, I would like to make it abundantly clear that the 1903 Gazette referred to by Alake was just a newspaper publication that he, in his self-serving role, is now presenting as an official government gazette.  CONTINUE READING .

King Wasiu Ayinde and Saheed Osupa in fresh Crisis

Barryshowkey calls for peace Adewale Akanji Balogun, son of late Fuji maestro, Sikiru Ayinde Balogun has called on all Fuji musicians to put an end to the ongoing controversy.

The US-based Fuji artiste better known as Barry Showkey dropped this in a message, he claimed was revealed to him in a dream by his late father some days ago.

On the controversy brewing up as a result of the latest interview granted by King of Music, Saheed Osupa, to BBC News Yoruba where the Ibadan based singer said King of Fuji Music, Wasiu Ayinde lacks wisdom to lead.

Barry Showkey said, the Fuji Originator appeared to him in his dream and directed him to speak to all parties, “I am not the type that talks on issues that doesn’t concern me. I always mind my business. But, in this case, like a Yoruba adage that says

"Ohun to ba Oju;,o ti ba Imu".any issue with the eyes is a threat to the nose) An insult on any member of my family, is an insult on me personally and this is not acceptable. I would have reacted differently based on my emotions but, after the messages my Dad gave me in my dream, my perceptions changed on how to tackle the issue.

My late Dad, Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister appeared to me and ordered me to send his message to all Fuji artistes, both at home and abroad. He said the latest crisis on his daughter (Modina) should be put to end. He said he does not want to hear anyone from anywhere talk about this topic again.

He said I should tell everyone that, there is more work to do as regards rescuing the hibernating future of Fuji music than dwell on non-issues. He said I should warn any other persons planning to grant any interview to escalate the issue rather than uplifting the image of Fuji will encounter the wrath of God and pay with their career.  Continue

UK fires African nurse for offering a bible to Cancer patient

A nurse who was sacked from the NHS after offering a bible to a cancer patient and encouraged him to sing The Lord is My Shepherd was fairly dismissed, a court has ruled.

Sarah Kuteh was fired from her job at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, Kent, in 2016 for repeatedly talking to patients about her faith and handing out a bible, in breach of Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) rules. Kuteh, 50, from Sierra Leone worked as an NHS nurse for 15 years.

The court documents also point to a number of other incidents, in which Kuteh told a bowel cancer patient in April 2016 'that if he prayed to God he would have a better chance of survival'.

Another complaint, again in April 2016, came from a patient who said Kuteh 'spent more time talking about religion than doing the assessment', and another, the same month, came from a patient who said they didn't want to see Koteh as they 'didn't like preaching'.

IGBO CAN NOT BE PRESIDENT IN 2023
“Igbo no longer have a chance at the 2023 presidency. I was the first to promise them the presidency but I don’t know what the situation is now. I don’t know what they will do now for voting against the APC.

For refusing to support the APC, they cannot come to the table now to demand the presidency slot. For people like us in the APC, if the Igbo had voted Buhari, we would boldly tell Mr President and the National Chairman of the party that presidency should go the Southeast since the South-south; South-west and North-west have produced president. What argument would the South-East come up with now to convince anybody that they deserve the slot for 2023 president? NONE.”

Health benefits of eating Banana

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber.

A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

Energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

DEPRESSION: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. ANEMIA: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

BLOOD PRESSURE: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

BRAIN POWER: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

CONSTIPATION: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

HANGOVERS: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

HEARTBURN: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

MORNING SICKNESS: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

MOSQUITO BITES: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

NERVES: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.. Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs.

The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

ULCERS: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. 15 New Code of Conduct at police checkpoints in Nigeria, by NPF

1. Endeavour to slow down your vehicle. It shows that you are not reckless. It also douses suspicion that you are a criminal and may want to speed off.

 2. Turn down the volume of your car stereo. Courtesy demands this. Besides, you are able to hear each other better. This simple act will also help you to win the confidence of the security operative.

 3. Keep your hands visible to avoid unnecessary suspicion or fear by the officers that you are attempting to bring out a gun or other harmful objects to attack them.

 4. Turn on the inner light of your vehicle while approaching the cops (if at night). It readily sends an unspoken message that you have nothing to hide.

 5. Be friendly and cheerful. Commend the officers especially when you see them working under very unfriendly weather conditions such as the rains, the harsh harmattan conditions, excessive heat, cold or sunshine. We know it’s their job, but a little kind word from you will do a lot of good. Remember when you smile at the mirror, the mirror smiles back at you.

 6. Endeavour to be polite even when answering questions put to you by the officers.

7. Don’t dare or challenge an armed security man to a duel. Oftentimes, you hear people say things like ‘shoot me if you can!” Note that this is a recipe for disaster! It is very provocative and an unnecessary call for war. So, please play safe, more so, as you do not know the state of mind of the officer concerned.

 8. Also, don’t go into a physical fight with an armed security officer. He may resort to the use of his weapon (rightly or wrongly) to defend himself.

 9. Avoid unnecessary argument with armed security personnel. There are a thousand and one ways to seek redress where you feel your rights have been infringed upon.
