These Staff of Lagos State Polytechnic were arraigned before court 5 Ebutte-Metta (a.k.a Botanical Garden). Their offence is that they protested nonpayment of their 7 months salary, poor condition of service, and other allowances.
The magistrate Mr O.A Komolafe admitted them to bail in the sum of 50,000 naira each with 2 sureties in the like sum. One of the sureties must be a civil servant of not less than level 12.
The 2nd surety must be a relation, evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government. Each defendant must sign undertaking that they will maintain peace and will not protest again before they are released.
All the 38 staff are now languishing in prison for fighting for their right and better conditions of service. All the 38 of them were picked up at 1 am on the 11th July, 2019 on the order of the Rector of the institution in collaboration with the Commissioner of Police of Lagos State in a gestapo manner.
I am very charged in my sprit. Please share this message until it gets to the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Mr Sanwo Olu. Kindly share to demand for the release of these 38 staff most of whom are women some are Nursing mothers
